I weigh 180 pounds and I want to loose 50 pounds by the end of this year. Is it possible?

Is lots of cardio good for burning off calories? How many calories should I burn a day?I weigh 180 pounds and I want to loose 50 pounds by the end of this year. Is it possible?
I have heard that it is healthier for you to lose it a little at a time. If you were to lose about 2 pounds a week, you would be done with your goal before 2008.
I think you can get the answer at www.4weightlossdiet.com as I always read many articles about fast weight loss there
You should be able to lose 50 pounds by the end of 'this year' if you are asking if you can do it by Dec. 31, and not the end of this 'school year' which is 'in June' ... if you 'eat well' and 'limit your intake' to 1500 calories a day, drink 6-8 eight ounce glasses of water and do '30 minutes of EXERCISE' (even just 'walking' for that half an hour) a day. You can 'do the math and work out the 'number of calories you need to burn' a day ... but you 'burn calories' even when you are 'asleep' ... and you should know that the 'intensity' of the exercise 'increases the burn-rate' ... but doing 'good slow regular exercise' is BETTER than doing a 'fast cardio workout' for losing weight. If you have a 'heart problem' and your doctor wants you to 'do cardio exercises' to strengthen your heart, then 'cardio' is 'good' ... but unless you are into 'extreme fitness' you should be EXTREMELY CAREFUL about 'which cardio exercises' you are doing ... and since you think you are '50 pounds overweight' I think you need to 'talk with your doctor' and get good advise on 'what you need to do and what diet you need to be on to both lose weight and GET HEALTHY again. Good luck.
